Magot Sultan
We have assisted urban communities by cultivating maggots around 30kg/month. The assistance aims to provide opportunities for youths in Lorong Sejahtera partnered with Forum Tani Muda and Aksi Foundation for added values either income and job creation.
We are overcoming environmental problems, processing organic waste and reducing odors that pollute the air. Moreover, the fertilizer that we produce from maggot has been devoted to farmers in villages to be applied into their plants.
This mutual combination enables us to give knowledge and education as well as to empower farmers and youth simultaneously.
Ruang Berbagi Ilmu Toraja Utara
Ruang Berbagi Ilmu (RuBI) is a collaborative social movement that invites professionals from diverse backgrounds to volunteer their expertise and cross-sectoral insights with educators across various regions. Its mission is to bridge the gap between professional experience and classroom practice, fostering a more creative, interactive, and high-quality learning environment through the power of collective action.
In my recent contribution to this movement, I facilitated a specialized training session on Positive Discipline for teachers, focusing on the eradication of violence within the educational ecosystem. I addressed the critical need to move away from punitive measures by highlighting their long-term psychological impact and the risk of student trauma. By introducing trauma-informed pedagogical strategies, I demonstrated that empathy-based discipline is not only a more ethical approach but also a far more effective tool for nurturing student growth and character development than traditional, force-based methods.
Sharing Happiness
Sharing Happiness is a community-driven movement dedicated to spreading joy and fostering social connection across society. In my recent involvement with the community, I served as a Sign Language Interpreter, acting as a vital communication bridge between the Deaf community and hearing participants.
Beyond interpretation, I facilitated an inclusive space where Deaf individuals could share their unique culture and teach foundational sign language to their hearing peers. This initiative was designed to break communication barriers, foster genuine human interaction, and significantly raise public awareness regarding disability rights and the essential value of social inclusivity.
Mangrove plantation
Collaborated with the CSR Team of Philips, Sociopus Indonesia has planted 1,000 mangrove trees in Barru, South Sulawesi, while also conducting community outreach to raise awareness about the crucial role of mangrove ecosystems. Through this initiative, local communities were introduced to the environmental and socio-economic benefits of mangroves, including their ability to protect coastlines from erosion, provide habitat for marine biodiversity, support local fisheries, and contribute to climate change mitigation through carbon sequestration.
The program not only focused on the planting activity itself, but also encouraged community participation and long-term stewardship to ensure the sustainability and protection of mangrove ecosystems in the coastal area.
Green Leadership Indonesia
Sociopus Indonesia is recognized as an awardee of the Green Leadership Indonesia (GLI) program, an informal environmental leadership initiative supported by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of Indonesia and initiated by Institut Hijau Indonesia in collaboration with WALHI, KNTI, and HuMa. The program aims to develop emerging leaders committed to advancing environmental sustainability and social and ecological justice.
As part of this program, Sociopus Indonesia joins a growing network of environmental leaders across the country who are working collaboratively to respond to the escalating ecological crisis, climate change, and environmental degradation through impactful community-driven actions and sustainable initiatives.
